On October 1, 2025, the Einstein Plus Class started at Portus Farelcollege. In this challenging program, students from group 8 have the opportunity to get acquainted with our lyceum and discover their talents. They take classes in language, science, culture, and debate, taught by enthusiastic teachers from Farelcollege.
What makes the Einstein Plus Class special is that students are already introduced to Challenge Based Learning (CBL): a modern way of learning in which they work together to find solutions for real questions and challenges. This way, they immediately get a taste of the innovative educational approach that characterizes the Farelcollege.
Open First-Year Day October 30
On Thursday, October 30, the Farelcollege opens its doors for the Open First-Year Day. Many primary schools from the region participate: their students are brought to our school by bus. In addition, students can also register individually via the website. During the Open First-Year Day, eighth-grade students attend four short lessons and get to know teachers, subjects, and the school building. This gives them a realistic impression of life in the first year of secondary school.
Principal Corine Sluimers emphasizes: “We believe it is important that students feel welcome and can discover their talents. With the Einstein Plus Class, we offer primary school students an inspiring way to get acquainted with our lyceum and with Challenge Based Learning. And during the Open First-Year Day, we let them experience what a real school day in the first year looks like.”
